The Grampians Pétanque Club Inc. was established in 2002 by a group of enthusiasts in nearby Moyston and relocated to Halls Gap,Victoria, Australia in 2004. Our impressive floodlit “Boule-o-Drome” was officially opened in March 2005.
Located beside the community sports pavilion at the Halls Gap oval, the piste is just 400m from the town centre. Encircled by the grandeur of the Grampians National Park, it is arguably the most scenic pétanque venue in Australia. Visitors are cordially invited to use our facility at any time, free of charge, and boules are available for loan if you left yours at home!
The "Boule-o-Drome" is surrounded by 19 shaded picnic tables and 6 bench seats with an elevated grassed embankment under the trees giving a birds-eye view of the games. Eleven games can be played simultaneously (i.e. 66 players for triples or 44 playing doubles).
In October 2013, a second piste was built just metres from the existing facility, but in the more traditional French “terrain naturel” style. The new piste will double the playing capacity at Halls Gap!
In 2010 a piste and clubroom was built at the Moyston football ground (32 km from Halls Gap). The Moyston members of the Grampians Pétanque Club meet regularly on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The venue is also used for social tournaments and community functions.
